Illness & Contagious Symptoms Policy

At Best Little Dog House in Georgia (BLDH), the health and well-being of every dog in our care is a top priority. We maintain health and safety requirements designed to help minimize the spread of contagious illnesses among dogs attending our facility.

Dogs Showing Signs of Illness

To help protect all dogs in our care, we do not accept dogs for daycare, boarding, grooming, or training services who are exhibiting potentially contagious symptoms, including but not limited to:

  • Coughing

  • Sneezing

  • Nasal discharge

  • Eye discharge

If your dog is experiencing these symptoms, please keep them home and contact us before scheduling or attending a visit.

If symptoms are observed during a stay or service, we will contact you and may require prompt pickup to protect the other dogs in our care.

Returning After Canine Cough or Respiratory Illness

Dogs experiencing canine cough or another potentially contagious respiratory illness may return when both of the following requirements have been met:

  1. At least 14 full days have passed since symptoms first appeared.

  2. The dog is no longer exhibiting symptoms of a potentially contagious respiratory illness.

The 14-day period begins when symptoms first appear, not when they resolve or when a diagnosis is made.

If a veterinarian recommends a longer exclusion period, we will follow that guidance. Our 14-day requirement is the minimum exclusion period for potentially contagious respiratory illnesses.

Exceptions for Noncontagious Conditions

We recognize that some dogs may experience symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, or discharge because of allergies, chronic conditions, or other noncontagious medical issues.

Exceptions may be considered with written documentation from a veterinarian confirming that the condition is noncontagious and that the dog is appropriate to attend daycare, boarding, grooming, or training.

All exceptions require management approval.

Veterinary clearance does not shorten the 14-day minimum for an actual or suspected contagious respiratory illness.

Our Ongoing Health & Safety Practices

In addition to this policy, BLDH maintains established health and safety precautions, including vaccination requirements, health screening, routine cleaning and sanitation, and building-wide air and surface sanitization systems.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a healthy environment for every dog entrusted to our care.
